Hi, I’m Nicole Alba-Valencia, MD— most of my patients/clients call me Dr. Nicole. I’m a medical doctor who specializes in psychiatry, and I have additional psychotherapy training. My medical (“physical health”) and mental health training gives me a specialized understanding of health, wellness, and the mind-body connection.
My solo psychiatry practice is called Healthy Mind Restorative Psychiatry (complete name: Mente Sana - Healthy Mind Restorative Psychiatry).. I offer a warm, personal, detailed, customized, and collaborative approach with my patients/clients. I provide a safe and caring emotional space and take time to get to know you and what is important to you.
Based on your unique goals, together we will determine a personalized approach that you are comfortable with, tailoring therapeutic tools and techniques to help you improve your health and wellbeing (e.g. mental health therapy, health-promoting activities foods or supplements, &/or psychiatric medication to support or restore your mental health).
My goal is to help you achieve improved self-understanding and self-esteem, in addition to increased joy, peace, meaning, and fulfillment in your life.

At some point in our lives, we all struggle with stressful or traumatic experiences that can produce uncomfortable and unexpected emotions, sensations, thoughts, and associated behaviors. Things just don’t feel right, and we may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or fearful that it will only get worse. Sometimes, new issues arise within relationships or social interactions, and home/work/school life may suddenly become a struggle. Often, friends or family want to help but simply don’t know how. All of this can lead to feeling increasingly misunderstood, isolated, and alone.
The good news is that you are not alone, and things can get much better. While each of us has our own unique stories, many people have experienced similar types of struggles. And through additional help and support, things ultimately became much better and brighter for them, just like it can for you. It takes courage to ask for help, but it can make all the difference in the world.
